Fidelity in marriage

9:46 PM

I never thought that my husband and I would have to talk about being faithful. Not that he ever has been un-faithful. He was my first boyfriend, and the first person I ever told that I loved. I did go on dates with boys, but never found someone that I felt comfortable entering a relationship, in till he came along. My husband had a few girlfriends, but our relationship was different. Which is evident of the fact that we got married. His string of girlfriends is also fun to use against him, but that is another story.

Now, my husband works in restaurants. The last job he had was managing a BBQ place. The owners had hired a bunch of the local sorority girls. They were our age, but that is the problem with marrying young. No one can figure out how old you are. They were all nice girls, but some things started to bother. Nothing my husband did, but things the girls were doing.
My husband would come home and tell me stories, one girl seemed to be obessed with our son. My husband is a proud dad so he would talk about all the cute things he did. Her thinking he was cute would not have bothered me, if she didn't also find reason to hug my husband. Then one day he said that she had invited himself and our son to the movies. I pointed out that she did not include me in that invite.
We can laugh about how this girl tried to steal my husband now, because I am sure that was not her intention, and my husband was oblivious to the way it sounded as well. But it was how I felt about what she was doing. You never want to be in a position that others could perceive in the wrong light. Your marriage is precious and should be protected. We set up rules that may seem silly, but they allow both of us to feel comfortable. Our marriage is worth a few seemingly inconvenient rules. We never have to worry about the other because we have decided to make our marriage the most important thing in our lives.
